Ways To Avoid Feeling Burnt Out

burnout

We all have much more to do than we can ever dream of completing.

Burn-out can occur when we are drained by being adrenaline-driven over a long period of time.

Anyone who has experienced this understands the bone-weary feeling of just not having the energy to clamber out of bed. The thought of facing another day can feel mightier and more foreboding than jumping under an oncoming truck.

Maybe you’ve been there or maybe you’re feeling down-trodden and exhausted and worry that burn-out may be just around the corner.

1. First and foremost, if you can’t get out of it, get INTO it. There is no sense living a life of resentment, so adjust your attitude.

2. Accept that it will always seem like you have more to do than time to do it in.  On the other hand, that doesn’t mean you WILL run out of time, just that you will feel as though it will happen.  When your time literally runs out, you won’t know anything about it so there won’t be a problem.

3. Adjust your workload downwards if you can: delegate tasks and cut a few corners without leaving sharp edges which will get you back.

4. Set your main priorities and keep resetting goals. You will feel better if you keep reminding yourself why you are doing things.

5. Work smart, not hard and TAKE REGULAR BREAKS. YOU come before your workload.

We can have a full and enriching life, even though we often feel anxious.  Rising anxiety is a great protective tool in the animal world.  Humans aren’t the strongest animals and the brain is a survival tool; where other animals are fast runners or strong biters.  If you have a jaw and teeth like an alligator, you don’t need your fear to keep you safe.

Don’t try to protect yourself against failure – be willing to fail over and over again because success only comes to those who persevere.
